Hi my name is Chelsea Connor and I’m an attorney in Memphis and I help build and create families to the adoption process. Today I want to review a little bit about the termination for parental rights in Tennessee as the rest of the country, an individual cannot have more than two legal parents. Therefore, either or both parents rights must be terminating parental rights and determined either voluntarily or involuntarily rights are voluntarily terminated either through surrender. A parent can consent to having their parental rights terminated, or away from interest may be signed by possible father printer rights may also be terminated involuntarily by court order. This process is more time consuming, any much more expensive. But termination is often necessary. The court may terminate parental rights for a number of reasons, including abandonment, failure to support superior child abuse certain criminal convictions, and so on. Once the termination process is complete, you may move forward with your adoption.
